Choreographer and Performer

Born in 1985 in Manizales, Colombia, a country with a great salsa and dance tradition. He grew up in a culture and
an environment where music, salsa and indigenous rhythms such as cumbia and vallenato, became part of his everyday life from an early age.

Soon he was noticed for his natural dancing abilities, but it was after his arrival in Spain in 2001, at the age of 16, when he decided to train to become a professional dancer. Fascinated by the world of dance, he also discovered other Latin rhythms such as bachata, and started taking classes and training in contemporary dance, classical ballet, spinning techniques, soil and partner acrobatics, transforming himself into a versatile and skilled professional.

He performed in musicals such as 'Dirty Dancing' , 'Grease ', ' The Force of Destiny ' by Mecano, and participated in numerous promotional tours of Caribbean drinks producers like Ron Barceló and Havana Club, both as a dancer and entertainer. In Madrid, he began to teach Latin rhythms in 2006 (Rueda de Casino, Salsa Cubana, Salsa Los Angeles, Chachachá and Bachata) and to work in the most famous nightlife dance events in Madrid, becoming a  renowned teacher and entertainer.

In 2009 and 2010, he won the Spanish Salsa Championship for two consecutive years, representing Spain at the Mayan Salsa Championship in Los Angeles.

He has participated in videoclips of singers like Luis Miguel del Amargue, Juan Magan and Victor Magan, and several key figures of the Electro -Latin
music scene. He currently forms part of a group of male dancers, which includes the World Salsa Champion 2009 (Puerto Rico), Fernando Alonso, and Michel, a talented Cuban dancer.

Always seeking new challenges, he has in recent years deepened his knowledge of fashionable new rhythms such as sensual bachata or kizomba.

Dancing is life and he has been dedicating his passion and energy to it from an early age, having achieved a personal style that is characterized by its strength, flow and an elegance that he combines with speed and precision.

Juan Gabriel Soto joined the Salsateca Team in 2014 and you can find him teaching Cuban Salsa and Bachata every Tuesday at Amber Bar (Moorgate) as well as our regular parties like El Bembé or Latin Paradise.
